Objectives:
After having completed this assignment, students should:
• Classify evidence as direct or indirect
• Apply the concept of direct vs. indirect evidence to the context of a developing news story
Steps
• Make a copy of the activity slides; Share your customized copy of the activity with students using a classroom projector
• Walk students through the exercise by explaining the background story and then gradually introduce the evidence
• Instruct students to place each piece of evidence on the direct / indirect spectrum
